Common Ultrasound FAQs

Did You Know?

An ultrasound is the most reliable way to confirm a progressing pregnancy. Up to 25% of pregnancies don’t advance, and some miscarriages aren’t detected without one.

  • Due to the high need for free ultrasounds in Dillon, Sc, we require clients to validate their need with a positive pregnancy test first. We offer free pregnancy tests and can usually have your ultrasound scheduled on the same day.

  • If you are considering abortion as an option, your first step should be an appointment to complete your ultrasound.

    An ultrasound will determine:

Whether or not your pregnancy is progressing. This knowledge is important in determining which method of abortion you would be eligible for. Each type of abortion procedure and cost depends on your personal health history and how far your pregnancy has progressed.

Whether or not your pregnancy is viable. The only way to be 100% sure you have a viable pregnancy (a pregnancy that is progressing) is to have an ultrasound. Studies have shown that up to one in four pregnancies do not progress. Some women don’t know they’ve had a miscarriage until it is seen during an ultrasound. If you have miscarried, you will need to receive follow-up care from a doctor.

  • Limited Ultrasounds Often DO:

    • Detect fetal heartbeat
    • Determine the approximate due date
    • Determine the number of fetuses
    • Advise immediate medical attention at an emergency room if indicated

Limited Ultrasounds at 'Your Pregnancy Center' do NOT:

    • Determine the sex of the baby
    • Diagnose fetal abnormalities
    • Substitute for prenatal care
  • We offer cost-free ultrasounds to determine if your pregnancy is viable and to assess the stage of fetal development. As a community-funded 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, we do not profit from your ultrasound or pregnancy decision. Since our services are free, nothing will appear on your insurance or be billed to your account.

Your ultrasound information is completely confidential. We are here to support you as you evaluate your options in a safe space.

If you are experiencing health issues such as bleeding, spotting, or cramping, seek immediate medical attention. These could be signs of a miscarriage, and you may need further medical care.
