An Ultrasound Matters

An ultrasound can answer key questions about your pregnancy and identify concerns.

Confirm things like:
  • How far along you are
  • Whether the pregnancy is developing in the correct location
  • If a heartbeat can be detected
  • If you need immediate medical attention

If you need an ultrasound, we'll schedule a free one on your behalf at a trusted center. Same-week appointments are usually available.

  • Our typical appointment flow is:

    1. Check-in. Privately share details & ask any initial questions.

    2. Confirm Pregnancy. Receive a lab-quality pregnancy test, & if appropriate, we will schedule you for a free, limited, non-diagnostic ultrasound at a nearby center.

    3. Talk with an advocate. Meet privately to ask questions, share concerns, & receive community resources that support your unique situation.

  • Before an abortion, an ultrasound can answer three important questions:

    • How far along am I?
Gestational age can affect your options and what to expect.

    • Is the pregnancy progressing?
An ultrasound can help determine whether the pregnancy is developing as expected.

    • Is the pregnancy in the right location?
An ultrasound can help identify an ectopic pregnancy, which requires different medical care and cannot be treated with abortion pills.
  • LIMITED ULTRASOUNDS DO:
    • Confirm whether the pregnancy appears viable
    • Detect a fetal heartbeat
    • Estimate how far along you are and your due date
    • Determine the number of fetuses
    • Identify situations where immediate medical attention may be needed

    LIMITED ULTRASOUNDS DO NOT:
    • Determine the baby's sex
    • Diagnose fetal abnormalities
    • Replace ongoing prenatal care
